St Vincent's Auxiliary was founded in 1963 with the purpose "to
promote and advance the welfare of St Vincent's Hospital…through
services to the hospital, its patients and their families and through
fund-raising activities".
Over the past 40 years, The Auxiliary has contributed over 3.2
million dollars back to St Vincent's Hospital.
The Auxiliary supports two retail shops in the hospital- Le Shoppe,
the hospital gift shop, was opened in 1964. A new venture, The Book
Seller, a full line book store was opened in 2004. Other projects
supported by the Auxiliary include jewelry and uniform sales, a
rotating art gallery and the creation and sale of the baby bows
that adorn many of the doors in the birth suites.
In addition to fund-raising, the Auxiliary supports the hospital
by providing volunteers in 81 areas and 31 departments throughout
the campus.
